CNN just redesigned their website and its quite a change. I have just gotten use to the their last redesign but this one feels a bit more pronounced.
Right off the top items to note are the global navigation, led by Home, Video and Newspulse, a new digg-like news story stream.
As you scroll down you’re greeted by more New York Times reader-style content buckets each representing a content bucket.
All in all a great redesign. Curious to see what others think.

Part of Adobe Community Out Reach program, Adobe Peapods is the end result of a collaboration between Adobe, Goodby, the Black Eye Peas and Blitz.
Visit the site and create your own flower. You can import pictures from Facebook or use what we’ve provided.
Here are some links I’ve retweeted on twitter that were interesting or insightful.

That’s all for today

Michael Lebowitz is the founder and ceo of Big Spaceship, and the mind behind qapture.net. He was kind enough to take part in a little back and forth focusing on the Big Spaceship’s most recent release.

Aviary.com‘s mission according to their bio on the site, “is to make creation accessible to artists of all genres…” That’s nice and all, but the tools they’ve built around that mission are unmistakably cool and remarkably powerful for browser-based application. There are four tools at your disposal, Toucan (a color swatch tool a la Adobe Kuler), Raven (a vector tool), Phoenix (an image editor tool) and my favorite Peacock a sort of visual laboratory.
In addition to cool tools, they’ve been a small community around member submits. There you can see what other creatives have shared. A lot of it is very inspiring even if it’s a community still in its infancy.. So join me in congratulating them on their ’09 SXSW Technical Achievement award by testing it out and letting your friends know about it if you enjoy the experience.

Tweeeeet.com is a great looking glass into the Twitter activity of more than two dozen designers. The UI seems just right with a ticker announcing the latest tweet and a news feed which captures the last 5 tweets. If anything make sure you follow these fine folks if Design is an interest, hobby or passion of yours.

In somewhat related news Trent Reznor announced on Twitter yesterday the submittion of a free IPhone app for approval. If all goes well the free app should be making its way to app store in a couple of weeks.
Not much info is available on what the app is for or will do. As soon as we find out, we’ll post an update to this post.

In order to promote the latest PS3 game Killzone 2 (remember that was the franchise that was going to dethrone Halo), Sony launched an innovative media campaign featuring an in-browser game. After downloading a tiny (45k) Firefox plugin, users would be trusted into battle as they surfed select websites. These random battles appeared for example if you were visting popular social network destinations such as mySpace, Facebook and Flickr to name a few.
With over 200,000 followers, it’s clear to me that the Whole Foods twitter account is being well received by its patrons both actual and potential. And it must be as they have just added @wholerecipe, an automated recipe feed. It’s great to see their continued commitment to nurturing a real conversation with their patrons.
What do you guys think? Is the new account adding to the conversation or taking away?

Odopod just relaunched their website. For those of you who don’t know Odopod, they are a San Francisco-based shop that’s done some of the better flash work out there. The interesting part of this redesign beyond the usual visual improvement is the minimal use of Flash. The going with an XHTML site from a shop that has made its name in Flash, is a trend i first saw with the Barbarian Group’s redesign last year and seems to be gaining mometum.
